In practical terms, this means that the choice of location for each appliance primarily depends on where the dedicated electrical lines arrive (or can arrive). Before approving a layout plan, it is essential to ensure that it is possible to properly install the oven and dishwasher with two distinct feeds from the panel, without extension cords or derivations.

The seals of the dishwasher, designed to withstand moisture, do not cope well with prolonged exposure to dry heat.
Inserting a base cabinet or a storage drawer between the two appliances is the most reliable solution. This intermediate unit acts as a thermal buffer and facilitates maintenance: in case of a malfunction, a technician can access the side of each appliance without having to disassemble everything.

Common mistakes that compromise kitchen safety
Some mistakes consistently recur in non-professional installations. They are not always visible at first glance, but they degrade the safety and durability of the appliances.
- Connecting the oven and dishwasher to the same circuit via a junction box or power strip, thinking that the total power remains below the circuit breaker limit. The current draw at startup often exceeds the nominal consumption.
- Sticking the dishwasher against the oven without a partition or gap, only to find after a few months that the dishwasher door seal is deforming and leaking.
- Placing the dishwasher far from the sink for aesthetic reasons, with a drainage hose winding several meters behind the cabinets. Water stagnates, odors develop, and the risk of backflow increases.
- Forgetting to leave access to the shut-off valve for the dishwasher. In case of a leak, quickly cutting off the supply prevents water damage.
The installation of a functional kitchen relies less on the aesthetics of the layout than on adhering to these technical constraints. A dedicated circuit for each appliance, thermal separation between the oven and dishwasher, and a short hydraulic connection form the foundation of a long-lasting installation.
